The Iredell County Board of Commissioners has officially designated March 2025 as Procurement Month, recognizing the critical role of public procurement in supporting County services, fostering economic growth, and ensuring ethical purchasing practices.

During their March 4 meeting, commissioners issued the proclamation to highlight the contributions of the Iredell County Finance Purchasing Division and the broader procurement profession. The proclamation emphasizes the division’s commitment to fair, transparent, and efficient procurement processes that align with industry best practices and legal standards.

“The vision of the Iredell County Finance Purchasing Division is to serve as trusted partners in local government procurement — expertly delivering collaborative strategic solutions to enhance and support County services for sustainable growth and development,” read Director of Finance Caroline Taylor from the proclamation.

In addition to purchasing goods and services, procurement professionals play a vital role in contract management, strategic planning, and fostering relationships with suppliers and internal departments. By utilizing technology and industry best practices, they enhance efficiency and improve government operations.

The recognition aligns with statewide and national efforts led by organizations such as the North Carolina Association of Government Purchasing and the National Institute of

Government Purchasing, which promote education and awareness about the importance of public procurement.

With this proclamation, Iredell County joins governments across the country in acknowledging the essential work of procurement professionals and their impact on public service.
